My Story

For as long as I can remember I have coached.

After enjoying ten years as a football player I moved into the world of coaching with a community football team. The rest is history, in fact 25 years of it, ending recently as co-founder and Board Member of the Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football Club.

Throughout my professional life I have taken a coaching role in training, addictions, employee assistance, and later as an organizational development specialist for large public, private and non-profit sector organizations.

It was a life changing event that presented me the opportunity to form James Ladd – Life and Business Coaching. Moving along my path like many of us do, I learned that I had a life-threatening lung disease and that I would likely not survive. But as God would have it, I was blessed with a double lung transplant in August of 2003. It was through the generosity of a man I never met that I was able to beat the odds. I don’t take this event lightly. In fact I view it as a miracle. This experience is what drives me to help my clients every day. I learned that it’s about being able to live until you die.

After much reflection, I have made many changes in my life, including leaving football after 37 years to focus on my family and my company. I bring to my clients a well-rounded skill set, education and a unique blend of life experiences that very few can speak to, and I consider it a privilege to live each and every day. It is my goal to coach people toward a place where they can honestly say the same.
